NIGC Regional Consultations set for Albuquerque, New Mexico
Washington — The National Indian Gaming Commission (NIGC/Commission) will continue a series of government-to-government consultations with tribes throughout the nation. It is vital for the Commission to regularly receive input from tribes and the Commission is eager to maintain dialogue on the many issues facing the Indian gaming industry.
With tribes being the primary, everyday regulators of gaming, they have much to contribute to the development of NIGC regulations and policies. One of this Commission’s primary objectives is to foster extensive collaboration and consultation with Indian tribes to hear their concerns and valuable insights on regulations and policies.
The Commission will be in your area to discuss various issues impacting tribes engaged in gaming activities such as the formulation and implementation of revisions to the Commission’s 2004 government-to-government consultation policy, the draft National Environmental Policy Act of 1969 (NEPA) Manual, and the Commission’s 1997 Records Retention Policy and any other issues tribal leaders would like to discuss.
The Commission would also like to engage in open dialogue with tribes requesting their top priority regulations and technical assistance that they believe the NIGC needs to address.
