National Indian Gaming Commission Announces Public Commission Meeting
To be held at the Riverwind Casino on July 18, 2011 in Norman Oklahoma

Washington, D.C., June 21, 2011 – Today, Chairwoman Tracie Stevens announced that she, Vice-Chairwoman Steffani Cochran and Associate, Commissioner Dan Little will hold a public Commission meeting in Norman, OK on July 18, 2011. This forum is open to the public and provides an opportunity for tribal leaders and the Indian gaming industry to learn about Commission initiatives and activities.

The Commission initiated public meetings on April 7, 2011 in Phoenix Arizona, which marked the beginning of a new chapter for the NIGC. “We received very positive feedback following our last meeting in Phoenix and were pleased to hear that tribes were interested in learning about ongoing issues before the Commission,” said Chairwoman Stevens. “We are firmly committed to an open and transparent Agency and will continue holding these meeting to ensure we are accountable to Tribes and the public,” added Stevens.

The meeting, which includes NIGC senior staff, is scheduled for Monday July 18, 2011 at the Riverwind Casino in Norman, OK. Anticipated topics of discussion during the meeting include training and technical assistance, agency operations and regulatory review.
