Cyber-Security Symposium | MS ISAC: Impact of Machine Learning on Cyber-Attacks - Session 3
Date: October 25, 2023 | Time: 2:00AM – 3:00PM ET
Description: This presentation will cover the MS-ISAC CTI team assessment that developments in machine learning (ML) derived tools are highly likely to enhance cyber threat actors’ (CTAs) offensive operations against SLTT entities over the next two years. These enhancements will principally impact the functions of sophisticated cybercriminals able to integrate ML-based tooling and state-sponsored threat actors already involved in ML and artificial intelligence (AI) research and development. ML integration into offensive cyber operations is currently limited. However, CTAs’ recognition of and intention to harness ML’s potential and rapid development signal an emerging threat for SLTTs. Given the likely maturity of the CTAs able to leverage ML, this activity will require significant defensive maturation on the part of SLTTs and partners. The presentation of the analysis will then follow with a list of recommendations for how SLTTs can leverage ML-derived defensive tools in conjunction with current security best practices to better secure against this threat.
