Chief Information Officer
Jun Kim
Jun Kim serves as the Chief Information Officer for the National Indian Gaming Commission, an independent federal regulatory agency established within the Department of the Interior. In this position, Jun provides leadership, supervision, and direction to Division of Technology activities with specific responsibility for developing and implementing the strategic direction of all information processing and communication systems and operations for the agency. Additionally, he provides oversight of all information assurance activities related to the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of agency information in compliance with the Commission information security policies. This includes providing advice and direction relevant to technology systems that supports the integrity of tribal gaming.
Prior to joining NIGC, Kim served at the U.S. Department of Commerce as Chief Information Security Officer for the Office of the Secretary. His contributions to the department included leadership roles for Network and Security Operations, IT Security & Compliance, and Emerging Technologies leading various IT consolidation and cloud migration initiatives. Kim also has extensive experience working in the private industry delivering technical solutions and security engineering services to Fortune 500 partners and federal agencies.
Kim is the recipient of a Bronze Medal Award from the U.S. Department of Commerce for the successful completion of a multi-year project for modernizing and securing the network infrastructure for the headquarters building.
Kim received a Bachelor of Science in Computer & Information Science from the University of Maryland University College, College Park, Maryland. He has also achieved numerous technical and leadership certifications and is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP).

The Indian Gaming Regulatory Act created the National Indian Gaming Commission to support tribal self-sufficiency and the integrity of Indian gaming. NIGC oversees the efficient regulation of more than 500 gaming establishments operated by 250 tribes across 29 states.
