Government to Government Policy – In 2004 the NIGC formulated and implemented a government-to-government consultation policy in order to formalize a process by which we can consider the concerns and issues of tribal leaders and tribal gaming regulators. This Commission takes very seriously its commitment to consult on a government-to-government basis with tribal leadership and tribal gaming regulators and firmly believes it is vital to receive tribal input and guidance in formulating policy affecting day-to-day gaming activities.
In keeping with that commitment, the NIGC seeks to discuss significant issues impacting tribes such as the formulation and implementation of revisions to the Commission’s 2004 government-to-government consultation policy, the draft National Environmental Policy Act of 1969 (NEPA) Manual, and the 1997 Records Retention Policy.
