NIGC Adds Public Safety Component to Website
Washington DC, February 7, 2007 — The National Indian Gaming Commission continues to enhance its website by adding a section dedicated to the Environmental, Public Health and Safety program (EPHS).
The EPHS program is designed to assist and provide technical guidance to tribes in development and operation of their facilities in a manner consistent with the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act (IGRA), National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), and other applicable environmental public health and safety laws.
The EPHS program is separated into two distinct but not mutually exclusive areas. The first addresses compliance with the NEPA and the second provides information on the NIGC EPHS Inspection Program.
The NIGC is an independent regulatory agency established within the Department of the Interior pursuant to the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act of 1988.
